Data takes flight

06 July 2025 10:00 - 18:00 The Royal Society Free
Bird in flight, close to the ground

This event is part of the Royal Society's Summer Science Exhibition 2025.

British birds have been in decline since the 1970s - but what happened before then? That’s when national records began, and museum collections are an invaluable resource for uncovering before this time.

Meet the team from Yorkshire’s own Museum of North Craven Life, funded by the Places of Science grant scheme. Drop in to help them chart data from their collections dating back to the 1890s and build a picture of changing bird populations. Discover what this can reveal about climate change, habitat loss, and the positive impact we can make by restoring landscapes.
